There are also a variety of modalities that can be combined with acupuncture, including cupping, which is the application of suction cups over the body to help relieve tension, and electro-acupuncture, in which a low level of electrical current is used to help maximize the benefits of the needle treatment, as well as provide pain relief similar to that provided by a TENS machine.
